JCAHO publishes bylaws clarification
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations' (JCAHO) publication of its 2004 medical-staff standards prompted some medical-staff leaders to begin shifting credentialing, privileging, appointment, and fair hearing and appeal processes from separate documents back into the medical staff bylaws. However, the accreditor's December 23, 2003, clarification of its 2004 bylaws requirement standard, MS.1.20, should put an end to this tedious work.
