MedPAC studies physician-owned specialty hospitals
The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission's (MedPAC) January 13, 2005 vote heated up an already contentious debate surrounding the issue of specialty hospitals. On December 27, 2004, the American Medical Association voted to oppose any extension of Congress' 18-month moratorium on new physician-owned specialty hospitals, due to expire in June 2005.
