Hospitals find success through strategic affiliations



There are several factors that rural and urban hospitals should consider before making an affiliation with neighboring medical centers, but some common business advantages appear to be driving these strategic decisions. A partnership between a large hospital and a smaller hospital, if properly planned, can result in benefits for both. The smaller hospital can offer a new source of patients and medical staff members, whereas the larger can offer more advanced treatment options and a greater variety of service. The ability to give patients more options is often one reason for a hospital partnership.
