Swallowed Foreign Objects Cost $2M at RI Hospital
A Rhode Island Hospital report shows that 33 patients needed 305 medical interventions over eight years to remove knives, pens, razor blades, batteries, and other items that were intentionally swallowed. Hospital costs were paid primarily by Medicare and Medicaid.
