Readmissions Reduction Effort at Kaiser Involves Cameras

Caregivers and social scientists, armed with handheld video cameras, are part of Kaiser Permanente's novel "video ethnography" team in California. In an effort to understand why some chronically ill patients are readmitted, the program examines the system's care process from beginning to end, in order to improve care and prevent further readmissions.
