WVU Hospitals says it's prepared for union strike

The president of West Virginia University Hospitals said Tuesday he's disappointed the union for nearly 870 employees plans to strike when its contract expires Dec. 31.

However, President Bruce McClymonds insists the quality of patient care won't be compromised by a walkout. Doctors, nurses and other health care providers will offer the same level of service, he said, and plans are in place to ensure patient safety

WVU Hospitals includes Ruby Memorial Hospital, the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center, WVU Children's Hospital, Chestnut Ridge Center and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center.
