MN hospital's mammogram parties pamper patients, calm nerves
A waiting room at Regina Medical Center's imaging department was spa-like: Under candlelight, a woman was getting a paraffin-wax hand dip while another was on the receiving end of a neck-and-shoulder rub. The pampering was the hospital's effort to help women get over the fear and discomfort of a mammogram screening. Think appetizers, chocolate and sparkling cider or wine, either before or after the squeezing procedure many women dread. The two-hour, nighttime party began with hospital staff handing the women pink carnations and a swag bag emblazoned with the breast cancer-awareness catch phrase, "Fight Like A Girl."
