NY Nurses Stayed With Critical Care Patients During Hurricane Irene
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg ordered a hospital evacuation in anticipation of Hurricane Irene last month, but NYU Langone Medical Center refused to move six of its sickest ICU patients. When the unit's nurse manager received permission to keep the patients, she found she had no shortage of nursing staff to care for them.
