Debating the Proposed CLIA Rule



Patient advocates say allowing patients to get test results directly from the lab will help them take control of their healthcare and reduce costs. But some physicians say proposed changes to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 could end up confusing patients and driving up the cost of lab tests.
