CMS Plan Would Tie Efficiency Scores to Hospital Payments

Efficiency scores measure cost per Medicare beneficiary at acute care hospitals and could mean as much as $200,000 for every $1 million of incentive payments in the value-based purchasing pool. But some hospitals say the scores are neither fair nor accurate.
