80,000 Surgical 'Never Events' Charted Over 20 Years



A new Johns Hopkins study counts 80,000 "never event" surgical episodes, such as wrong sites and wrong procedures, resulting in $1.3 billion in hospital payouts in 1990-2010. The study leader believes the true number is higher.
