Healthcare Safety

September 2014

In May of 2014, a three question survey on healthcare safety was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about the current status of the safety culture at their organization, important leadership activities needed a safety culture, and the importance of vetting the various groups of people typically found in health organizations. A total of 145 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Population Health

August 2014

In May of 2014, a three question survey on population health was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about data-related methods of engaging in population health management, obstacles to transitioning to value-based reimbursement, and steps to gain expertise in Population health management. A total of 203 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Revenue Issues

May 2014

In February of 2014, a three question survey on revenue issues was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about the focus of revenue cycle operations, areas for revenue growth, and the impact of value-based purchasing on revenue. A total of 251 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Care Management

February 2014

In November of 2013, a three question survey on care management was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked to identify who holds the primary responsibility for the care management process in their organization's approach to population health and risk management; if they have any plans to restructure care management programs in order to engage in population health and risk management; and if so, what types of changes were planned and what technologies will be used implement these changes. A total of 142 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Healthcare Integration

November 2013

In September of 2013, a three question survey on healthcare integration was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about the importance of the physical integration of materials and supplies, the development of their organization's physical integration of materials and supplies and whether their organization was currently capable of maximizing its physical integration. A total of 138 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Patient Communications and Engagement

November 2013

In August of 2013, a three question survey on patient communications and engagement was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about top concerns and greatest challenges when managing patient engagement efforts as well as their main area of focus to improve the overall patient experience. A total of 134 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Financial Efficiencies

October 2013

A three-question survey on financial efficiencies was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council in June 2013. Executives from hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other groups were asked about opportunities for financial efficiencies, exposure to potential loss, and sources for financial efficiencies guidance. A total of 125 completed surveys are included in the analysis, which included 56 Senior Leaders. Results for Senior Leaders are broken out for comparative purposes.

Readmissions

October 2013

In September of 2013, a four question survey on readmissions was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about CMS’s readmissions penalties, strategies for reducing readmissions, as well as coordinating with and selecting home health providers in light of readmission guidelines. A total of 106 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Clinical Technologies and Systems

August 2013

In June of 2013, a three question survey on clinical technologies and systems was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about the level of involvement of physicians and the methods for utilizing physicians in the selection of clinical technologies and systems. A total of 151 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Risk Sharing Models

August 2013

In May of 2013, a four question survey on risk sharing models was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about the types of models they were considering, timing of implementation, and the primary challenges to establishing and managing a shared risk model. A total of 126 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

Skills and Resources

August 2013

A three-question survey on executive skills was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council in May 2013. Senior leaders from hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other groups were asked to rank executive skills and about their willingness to seek outside resources. A total of 153 completed surveys are included in the analysis, which included 58 Senior Leaders. Results for Senior Leaders are broken out for comparative purposes.

Payment Reform

June 2013

In April of 2013, a survey on payment reform was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Respondents include senior leaders from hospitals, physician organizations, health systems and other groups. Respondents were asked about their organization’s IT readiness for payment reform, their plans to invest in advanced revenue cycle and business intelligence tools, and the timing of their future technological investments. A total of 110 completed surveys are included in the analysis.

 

Reimbursement Reductions

May 2013

In February 2013 a survey on reimbursements was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Healthcare Executives from hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other groups were asked about expected reductions in reimbursements, levels of preparedness for reductions, and plans to prepare for reductions.

 

Capital Finance and Industry Consolidation

April 2013

In January of 2013, a survey on capital funding was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Senior leaders from hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other groups were asked about their plans for M&A, partnership, or affiliation efforts. A total of 137 completed surveys are included in the analysis, which included 59 Senior Leaders. Results for Senior Leaders are broken out for comparative purposes.

 

Health Information Exchanges

February 2013

In February of 2013, a survey on health information exchanges was sent to members of the HealthLeaders Media Council. Healthcare Executives from hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other groups were asked about plans for implementing a health information exchange, potential vendors they would partner with, and the key benefits of a health information exchange. A total of 132 completed surveys are included in the analysis, which included 65 Senior Leaders.

Senior leaders from hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other groups were asked about priorities for capital investment, the key drivers of capital investment, and the primary sources of capital investment over the next 2-3 years. A total of 125 completed surveys are included in the analysis, which included 58 Senior Leaders. Results for Senior Leaders are broken out for comparative purposes.

 

Organizational Leadership and Strategy Assessment

August 2012

In March 2012 an online survey was sent to the HealthLeaders Media Council. More than 300 senior leaders from hospitals, health networks, physician organizations, and other groups were asked to assess their organization’s leadership and strategy by indicating to what extent they agree or disagree with ten different statements. The following issues were explored: goals, communication, accountability, and performance.

 

Readmissions

June 2012

The HealthLeaders Media Intelligence Unit surveyed senior healthcare leaders about readmissions and care transitions. The survey explores readmissions and care transition causes, investments, and responsibility within the healthcare organization.
