Maryland's coronavirus cases see record increase for third straight day, 580 cases in total: 'We are only at the beginning of this crisis'

For the third straight day, Maryland’s total of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus climbed by a record amount, surpassing 100 new cases in a day for the first time. The state reported 157 new cases of the virus Thursday morning, more than the sum of the increases of 61 and 74 cases the respective two days prior.
