Allegiance Health is the 45th hospital in the state to agree to participate in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan's hospital reimbursement model. Under the new model, hospitals will work with their physician partners to establish an infrastructure plan that includes an all-patient registry system. The insurance company will reward hospitals with a share of the savings realized when hospitals and physicians coordinate to prevent unnecessary re-admissions, a press release reads. Allegiance announced its move toward the new model along with three other Michigan hospitals: Detroit Medical Center, Dickinson County Healthcare System and Metro Health Hospital.
