Low-income Minnesotans seeking coordinated medical services under the state's General Assistance Medical Care program will get more choices starting Wednesday, when enrollment reopens in the program at Regions Hospital in St. Paul and University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview in Minneapolis. This means all four Twin Cities-area hospitals serving very poor childless adults are again open for new enrollees from throughout the state. GAMC, a health insurance program for Minnesota's poorest residents, was revamped by the Legislature early this year so that its 32,000 beneficiaries could enroll in a “coordinated care delivery system” in any hospital that agreed to participate.
