KY Gov. Beshear plans merger talks with hospital officials

Gov. Steve Beshear plans to meet with partners in the controversial hospital merger that he rejected last week. On Friday, Beshear rejected plans to merge University Hospital and Jewish & St. Mary's with St. Joseph Health System in Lexington, owned by Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives. CHI would have had majority ownership, and many residents and community leaders expressed concern that reproductive and end-of-life care could be curtailed.
