Publisher relaunches memoir of journalist's stay in mental hospital

Reporter Jack Kerkhoff spent 45 days in Traverse City (MI) State Hospital, then wrote about the experience in 1952. His book, "How Thin the Veil," cast a harsh light on conditions and treatment of patients with mental illness. Now a Michigan publisher is republishing the book and will donate part of the proceeds to a museum dedicated to the hospital.
