Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis has re-opened for patient care today in a limited capacity after a weeks-long effort to repair and reconstruct the hospital following a June 6 fire. All areas of the hospital are open except for surgery and labor & delivery. Officials at the 100-bed hospital expect to re-open labor & delivery early next week. Surgery is scheduled to re-open by the end of next week. While the fire was limited to a single room, the hospital's sprinkler system that contained the fire released 35 gallons of water per minute across a large area, damaging walls, floors and ceilings and some equipment in areas critical to hospital operations. No injuries were reported.
