Michigan hospitals also feel fiscal pain
Detroit Free Press, December 9, 2008
As they cope with the rising burden of uncompensated care and investment losses, Michigan hospitals are postponing projects, laying people off, or freezing jobs. Equally strong Oakwood Healthcare System of Dearborn may post its first loss since 1999, said Doug Welday, its chief financial officer.
