Report calls D.C. hospital care worst

D.C. hospitals rank 51st among the states in both quality of care and patient satisfaction, says a new report released this week by CareChex, a division of The Delta Group, a Greenville, S.C. health care information services company.

Last? Dead last? The District is home to large, economically forceful and generally well-regarded health care providers such as the Washington Hospital Center, The George Washington University Hospital, Georgetown University Hospital and Children's National Medical Center. (see note below.) Of course, the report makes it clear that an overall bad ranking doesn't mean everyone within that state/district is bad, but none of the District's hospitals would claim to be anything but excellent.
