Report: Non-profit hospital CEOs still handsomely paid

The Democrat & Chronicle, August 12, 2014

Many hospital CEOs continue to see hefty increases in pay, according to Modern Healthcare, an online source of business news and events in the medical-industrial complex. According to a recent report, "total cash compensation grew an average of 24.2 percent from 2011 to 2012 for the 147 chief executives included in Modern Healthcare's analysis of the most recent public information available for not-for-profit compensation." The report said that 21 of the 147 CEOs saw total cash compensation rise by more than 50 percent. The article pointed out that non-profit hospitals have a strong charitable mission, and that the salaries for CEOs of charities are in the low six-figures. The article also pointed out that the average worker gets a 2 percent raise.
