After medical treatment for Haiti quake victims, who in U.S. pays the bill?

Miami Herald, February 1, 2010

Whether the federal government will reimburse some or all of South Florida's medical expenses for treating Haitian earthquake victims is a topic of increasing interest among hospitals, the Miami Herald reports. For example, treatment for 50 Haitian patients brought to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center so far for emergency care could be $50,000 to $100,000 each, said William O'Neill, MD, executive dean of clinical affairs at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine.
