Connecticut Health Care Advocate gets $6.7 million back from insurers

Hartford Courant, January 14, 2010

The Connecticut Office of the Healthcare Advocate fought to get $6.7 million last year from health insurers in claims and healthcare services that were initially declined by insurance companies. The cost otherwise would have been paid by consumers, said Healthcare Advocate Kevin Lembo. The recent economic downturn has driven up complaints to the office, which advocates for consumers who have paid for private insurance, the Hartford Courant reports.
