BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee gives break to young adults

The Tennessean, April 23, 2010
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has been added to the growing list of insurers giving young adults a break when they face losing health coverage by being taken off a parent's insurance policy. The insurer became the latest company to move up the effective date of a provision of federal health reform that extends the maximum age of eligibility for staying on a parent's policy to 26 years old. Mary Thompson, a BlueCross spokeswoman, said the more lenient age limit would kick in on June 1, instead of Sept. 23 as required by federal law. The cutoff age had been 24 in Tennessee.
