Embattled Springfield, TN, insurance companies to plead case

The Tennessean, April 26, 2010

Attorneys for a pair of Springfield, TN, insurance businesses accused by state regulators of selling thousands of bogus health-insurance policies nationwide will try to convince a Nashville judge today that the companies are not insolvent. The companies will try to make a case that they should be allowed to continue selling products. Tennessee insurance regulators seized the companies, the American Trade Association and Smart Data Solutions LLC, on March 23. An appointed state auditor has been in charge of the companies' business records, offices, phones, and bank accounts since then with court approval.
