DHS proposal to trim RIte Care rolls draws criticism

Nearly 18,000 low-income Rhode Islanders on RIte Care who may lose state-subsidized health insurance under a proposal released by the state Department of Human Services last week. Governor Carcieri has yet to endorse the plan, which would save the state more than $22 million next year as it struggles to close a budget deficit projected as high as $450 million.
