Jackson Health System board meets privately

Admitting he had "no magic elixir," Chief Strategy Officer Donn Szaro said Tuesday that Jackson Health System needs major changes on many fronts—a public prelude to a six-hour closed door session with Jackson’s governing board to discuss how to turn around the ailing hospital system. Even with furloughs and layoffs announced this month, Jackson is expected to be down to 11 days of cash on hand in December—less than a tenth of the reserves that healthy hospitals have.
