Get the benefit of physicians’ expertise to prevent and appeal insurance denials and increase revenue
To reduce the revenue lost by denials, many organizations involve their physicians in the appeals process. "Healthcare organizations are beginning to realize that it’s often cost-effective to have physicians participate to a greater extent in denial management," says attorney Linda M. Fotheringill, who advises healthcare organizations about preventing and appealing denials.
"Physicians’ in-depth clinical expertise is essential to managing denials, especially those based on medical necessity or other clinical issues, which all types of insurers, including Medicare, frequently use as the basis for denying claims," she says.
