Communication with staff and physicians is key to a successful service strategy
Georgetown Community Hospital is a small acute care hospital about 15 miles northwest of Lexington, KY. Like many small hospitals, we struggle to be successful in a situation where our employees, physicians, and community members can easily choose to bypass us and go to any of several well-respected hospitals in the nearby big city. Yet we have been able to convince many people that Georgetown is the place to be. Our hospital has been able to maintain low levels of employee turnover, high levels of physician loyalty, and steady streams of patients.
We attribute this to three things--communication with employees, communication with physicians, and the communication that flows to the community.
