Like many healthcare organizations, Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ, is under tremendous market and regulatory pressures to improve efficiency, cut costs, reduce medical errors, and enhance customer care. To tackle these challenges, the 355-bed teaching hospital has undertaken a $10 million overhaul that includes a wireless Local Area Network designed so that caregivers can eventually use personal digital assistants and an array of other mobile devices to access secure clinical information from a patient's bedside or virtually anywhere in the hospital.
