Consumer-driven plans and their effect on providers

Despite consumer-driven health plans’ gain in popularity, education regarding the plans and their effect on providers remains murky. Consumer-driven plans shift more of the responsibility and decision-making to consumers. As a result, dedicated and defined health benefit plans have been designed. These include health savings accounts (HSA), health reimbursement arrangements (HRA), and tiered networks, in which employers offer a choice of medical plans that includes medical systems of various costs.
