Don't neglect emergency preparedness in your contracts
Will you get paid for the services you provide during a state of emergency? Most hospitals have been engaged in comprehensive disaster planning for some time, but have you considered what would happen to your revenue stream if a disaster should impede claims submission and compliance with the administrative requirements of your managed care contracts?
Managed care agreements, replete with arcane administrative obligations, will not be held closely in mind during a disaster, when the urgent needs of patients become the only priority.
