Beyond traditional: Think outside the norm to boost productivity, fairly compensate docs
Compared to many other professionals, physicians have an exceptionally long work week. In fact, the Occupational Outlook Handbook notes that in 2004, one-third of full-time physicians worked 60-plus hours per week and that new physicians were less likely to take on a solo practice because of the substantial time demand.
To maintain or boost productivity and ensure that physicians are fairly compensated (not to mention to prevent physician burnout), it's vital that physicians learn to utilize their time wisely. You can help by thinking outside the box when it comes to measuring productivity.
