Survey shows residents have more offers, better outlook
More than half of the 285 final-year medical residents surveyed in the Merritt, Hawkins & Associates (MHA) 2006 Survey of Final Year Medical Residents received 51 or more job solicitations in the course of their training.
The number of opportunities that residents typically receive has grown considerably since MHA initially conducted the survey in 1999, reflecting the increased demand for physicians resulting from an industrywide shortage, says Kurt Mosley, vice president of business development for MHA in Irving, TX.
