John Commins, for HealthLeaders Media, November 2, 2009

The Sisters of Mercy Health System announced today that it has finalized a deal with Catholic Health Initiatives to assume sponsorship of St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, MO. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mercy takes immediate and full responsibility for operating the 367-bed acute care hospital and related operations, which serve 19 counties in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

St. Louis-based Mercy, the eighth largest Catholic healthcare system in the nation, operates 19 other acute hospitals, physician practices, outpatient clinics, health plans, and related health and human services in a seven-state area, including nearby hospitals, physician offices, and other operations in Springfield, MO, Rogers, AR, and Independence and Fort Scott, KN.

Gary Pulsipher will become president/CEO of St. John's Regional. Pulsipher was with Mercy from 1994 to 2002, as president/CEO of St. John's Hospital in Lebanon, MO, and regional vice president of St. John's Health System in Springfield with responsibility for five regional hospitals. Since 2002, Pulsipher has served as president/CEO for Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, NE, and administrator of Silverton Hospital in Oregon.

Denver-based CHI, the nation's second-largest Catholic healthcare system, includes 78 hospitals, 40 long-term care, assisted and independent living and residential facilities, and two community health services organizations located in 20 states.

to whom this may concern , this is what we shared with the world on facebook. I can't even believe it's possible to say all that and it just be 100% true....... I have to get something off my mind from earlier today..so i go to the er after my doc had his family emergency cuz i was advised to by his nurse , i go in feeling horible walk out feeling same , REALLY wish i would have just not gone and just waited 2 weeks for help or DR GLAS CUZ now i got no treatment at all besides the ER big bill walk out of er feeling as bad as walking in no real care no reason for it , then they expect to be paid LMFAO this is the perfect way to explain one good reason for OBAMA CARE !!! PLEASE SHARE !!! i hope them caring people at st.john to see this thanks to them i can honestly say he has not ate one bite today and has not slept decent in 3 days this town needs a COX and we might be the ones to start working on just that. I was there i seen it all im not just sticking up for my husband he could have been a stranger and i still would have [INVALID]ped my jaw thank you caring people at st johns i bet all of them ate and slept fine tonight something i can say my husband wont do so please share this because i hope them caring people at st johns read this and im sure he hopes individually that they all have that karma running right at them This first visit was around 3:30 p.m. 01/28/2013 The second visit was around 2:30 a.m. 1/29/2013 I am Jimmy Knapp's wife Raedawna Knapp I called up to the E.R. because I am tired of seeing my husband not eat (since 1/27/2013) or slept more than a few minutes at a time so at about 1 oclock this morning I called the E.R. and talked to one of what has to be one of the only decent people up there named Joe wish I knew the last name and this is what we talked about...... I told Joe that I had my husband up there earlier and told him how they treated him like he was some kind of junkie which them kind of words are no where near our names neither do we have a history of narcotic use at all. Joe asked me the patients name I gave it to him along with his DOB he looked it up on the computer first thing he saw was how high my husbands blood pressure was Joe knew the treatment that my husband got earlier wasn't suitable along with the rest of the staff because he walked in and out feeling the same and didn't have a problem making it clear to them and then when we went back it was the same treatment as before. I told Joe to put himself in my shoes for just a minute and he said to come back to the E.R. and they would help out with my husbands pain which was a lie but not because of Joe it's because of the careless people that are not caring like Joe. Whenever we where bringing up the situation at the front desk we had an I would say almost all of the E.R crew standing there just looking careless and there wasnt anybody in there but us at all pretty much. And there wasn't a real big seen but if he wanted to make a big deal out of things and be a bad person then he could have slipped on the wet floor in room #3 at 2:00 a.m. that they walked him into with no wet floor sign. He is not that was and he is also not a junkie and he is not just lookin for pain pills. My husband feels like he shouldn't have went to the E.R at all in this town to get bad service. Somebody needs to help with this issue or do something anything. We would like a call so we know this made it to you. 417 942 0363 or 417 991 9096 P.S. To go ahead and gripe and be serious all the way he also didnt get an allergy wrist band or fall risk and he was there for falling and they walked him on a wet floor. Now i know most people that had that happen to them could have fell intentionally its just a good thing we are not like that but i thought that would be a very eye opening situation to bring to your attention being how this is not right and Sargent Doublen told us to contact you over this matter. I dont believe we need an attorney but we do have one contacting us over the E.R. this is what was sent to the attorney general in hopes of getting rid of careless people or sad situations like tonight or the liability your staff causes by walking a guy thats there for falling thats a fall risk that didnt get a fall risk wrist band and was walked on a wet floor in room #3 which it should be clearly on tape if you got it and quite frankly that should be enough right there to prove they didnt care or they wouldnt have walked him on a wet floor in his condition. In one way or another i think we both wished that at that very second that we saw that wet floor it would have been a crooked person with a good lawyer that walked on it. I dont know if anyone can see the issue here of carelessness in the very beginning of walking in that room it was proof right then if you think about it.
