Issue Addressed: In support of the “Save Lives Save Dollars” project, GDAHC wanted to consolidate hospital and physician performance measures compiled by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Leapfrog and payors on a public Web site (www.savelivessavedollars.org).

Contract Signed: May 2006.
Terms: Three-year contract, fixed annual fee between $100,000 and $500,000.
Number Vendors Considered: Nine, with four finalists.
Finalists Included: Covisint, Medstat.
Evaluation Tools: Requested live presentations from four finalists (Medstat withdrew); WebMD and Covisint presented last round. Search committee voted for WebMD.
Why WebMD Won: Familiarity with healthcare performance measures, ability to Web-enable them on quick timeline.
Deployment: WebMD met the July rollout deadline.
