At Cleveland Clinic, Diane von Furstenberg talks patient gowns
Cleveland Live / The Plain Dealer, January 16, 2013
The renowned fashion designer and creator of the wrap dress appeared Thursday night at the InterContinental Hotel & Conference Center Cleveland as part of the hospital's Ideas for Tomorrow series. Cleveland Clinic CEO and President Toby Cosgrove met the designer about five years ago and asked her to reimagine the hospital's patient gowns. After several years of prototypes and patient trials, the gowns will finally be available to patients in April. In an empty hospital boardroom before Thursday's event, von Furstenberg talked with a reporter about the gown project and why—despite her early hesitation—she agreed to do it.
