In her business column for the Washington Post, Martha M. Hamilton tells the story of Pamela Baldwin, a woman who moved from the Washington, DC, area, and had difficulty finding a doctor who would accept her as a new Medicare patient. Although for most people, the transition to Medicare at age 65 is fairly seamless, sometimes Medicare recipients who need a new doctor find that the doors are closed, Hamilton writes.
