Top RI doctor quits for unexplained reasons

Providence Journal, January 3, 2011
The chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital and Brown University abruptly left her post last week, for unexplained reasons. Joanna M. Cain, MD, who was recruited from the West Coast two years ago, said in a phone interview that she had resigned, but declined to discuss why. "It is very sad," Cain said. "I really feel such huge grief for the faculty and, for me, for the sense of lost opportunity here. But I have a clear conscience." Pablo Rodriguez, MD, the hospital?s associate chair of community relationships, said that Cain has been an exceptional leader to the staff. ? We're all devastated by her loss."
