Nurses strike has Temple training 850 new hires

Philadelphia Inquirer, April 1, 2010

Temple University Hospital lost 1,500 skilled employees when registered nurses and allied health professionals went on strike, but it gained 850 temporary workers recruited from around the country. The 850 new employees are getting a crash course in its computers, layout, and rules while meeting its 400 doctors and 3,000 other employees. The hospital says patient safety and quality will not be affected, but the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals says it will.
