FDA planning more regulation of drug-infusion pumps

Wall Street Journal, April 26, 2010
The Food and Drug Administration announced it would tighten rules on widely used infusion pumps that deliver drugs and other fluids to patients, following repeated problems with the devices. The FDA cited an increase in the number and severity of problems with external infusion pumps. It said it has received 56,000 reports of problems in the past five years, including more than 500 deaths associated with the devices.
