NYU cleared in transplant of kidney

Wall Street Journal, June 1, 2010

A jury has decided that New York University Langone Medical Center doctors didn't commit malpractice when they let a male patient keep a transplanted kidney donated by a woman with uterine cancer. Kimberly Liew of Queens, the widow of transplant patient Vincent Liew, had sued NYU, arguing that its doctors left the kidney inside her husband, convincing him that the risks he would develop cancer were small. Vincent Liew died in September 2002 of metastasized cancer that doctors said he contracted from the transplant.
