Fixing the noisy hospital

Hospitals are loud, and a growing body of research suggests that the noise itself actually harms patients, interfering with the healing process, increasing the likelihood of medical errors, and raising the stress levels of everyone on the premises. In response, doctors, nurses, engineers, and architects are rethinking the hospital, both its design and its routines, the Boston Globe reports.
