Tennessee questions HCA need to shift neonatal care

A Tennessee healthcare agency voted 7-3 against a request by HCA Inc.'s StoneCrest Medical Center to add neonatal intensive care services amid questions about the need and the extent of doctor recruitment efforts by an affiliate HCA hospital. StoneCrest had sought to add six intensive care beds at its Smyrna campus, while HCA affiliate Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville was to give up a similar number of beds.
