Gap between vendor offerings and providers' needs Despite the federal stimulus package, healthcare IT budgets are still tight and providers are looking to IT vendors for creative solutions to keep projects moving forward, according to KLAS' new report, Executive Reaction to the Stimulus Package. More than 25% of providers are looking for way to achieve a stronger return on investment from vendor systems, but "very few vendors have answered the call," the report says. The report also found that 28% percent of providers have sped up or changed the direction of their IT plans since the announcement of the stimulus package, and 43% are ready to move. [Read More]
Minnesota Insurers to debut new Web portal for processing claims A group of health plans in Minnesota is rolling out a Web-based system, called MN E-Connect, which will enable providers to file medical, hospital, and dental claims electronically as required by a July 15 legislative deadline. Roughly 500 providers have registered to use the Web portal so far and claims submission via MN E-Connect begins on July 1.[Read More]
