Henry Ford Health System, NPOs, invest in assisted living for seniors

The Detroit News, February 1, 2011
The Henry Ford Health System is teaming up with two nonprofit organizations to help redevelop a Detroit neighborhood by creating affordable assisted-living options and expanding federal healthcare services for seniors. The center provides medical and social services to low-income seniors who have serious health problems; Henry Ford operates another center in northwest Detroit. The project will help Henry Ford expand its senior independence program from about 222 participants today to up to 1,000 during the next three years, said John Polanski, Henry Ford's president/CEO for community care services. The center is part of the federal government's Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, which serves more than 20,000 people in 29 states.
