Detroit Receiving Hospital sets up dorms to ride out blizzard

WXYZ Detroit, February 2, 2011
At Detroit Receiving they've got a blizzard battle plan. If the storm buries the metro area as expected, doctors, nurses and other staff may be stuck in the building and the hospital is ready. "We decided that we are going to have a dormitory. We have them separated by gender," said Reginald Eadie, President of Detroit Receiving Hospital. Eadie says the staff eagerly volunteered to stay overnight if the roads are buried in snow. "We have provided a lot of things such as toiletries and have food available. So we are doing anything the employees here request," Eadie said. Besides a fully staffed emergency room the hospital is not cancelling any appointments or elective surgeries. The staff is also ready for a surge of weather related issues, including car accident patients and victims of carbon monoxide poisoning.
