Haslam blames feds for delay in healthcare choice

SFGate.com / Associated Press, November 20, 2012

Gov. Bill Haslam said Monday that a lack of information from President Barack Obama's administration is delaying a decision about whether TN should run its own health insurance exchange under the new federal healthcare law. Haslam told reporters that the administration has refused to address questions about the health insurance marketplaces raised by Republican governors. Haslam's complaints echo those by other governors, including Bobby Jindal of LA and Bob McDonnell of VA, who have argued that the Obama administration should release major regulations bottled up before they have to make up their minds. Some of their main concerns include whether there would be hidden costs of operating the exchanges and the sheer bureaucratic complexity of the new system.
