The Institute of Medicine (IOM) elected Cleveland Clinic chief executive Toby Cosgrove as one of 70 new members Monday, Oct. 21 at its annual meeting. The organization, which is an independent, nonprofit branch of the National Academy of Sciences, advises Congress on health matters as diverse as physical education and Medicare spending.
