They're all worthy endeavors, but they're often doomed to fail because they lack sufficient planning, accountability, and support. The number of people over the age of 65 is increasing, while the number of practicing geriatricians is decreasing. The article touts a team approach, with nurses trained in geriatrics and social workers trained in the problems of the elderly, so that they can help physicians provide coordinated care for older patients.
